John Brown's Dream by DJ Banjo and The Automatic Sweethearts

DJ Banjo and The Automatic Sweethearts is a new project by Dan Easley fusing traditional old-time fiddle and banjo tunes with electronic dance music, with lead vocal styles inspired by Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart.

In the studio, Dan plays banjo, mandolin, electric guitar, and saxophone, and programs and sequences rhythms and effects using free software synthesizers and public domain / royalty free loops and samples. Live, Dan plays fretless banjo clawhammer style and sings with prerecorded computerized accompaniment; sometimes friends join in on fiddle or other instruments.

The show, called "Banjotron 2000: House Party of the Damned", presents high tempo dance numbers along with ballads, bawdy tunes, and a few gospel numbers.
