Solipsism is a word meaning "self as reality" or "reality as self." Schism signifies a breaking or fracturing. Putting them together, solipschism could mean "the fractured reality of self," or, "the reality of a fractured self." True to form, Dan has created this word in his own image - the solipschism of the human condition is mostly what Dan writes about and sings about.

Somehow, each of us is able to pull together all the different facets of our personality into one cohesive 'self.' That is just what Dan has done with his music, in this album. Solipschism is a true representation of what you can expect from him as a person and as an entertainer.

What you will hear on this disc is a diverse collection of songs and ponderings along many different fronts. While some are serious, others are silly; some are light, and others quite heavy. Some move between the profound and the mundane from line to line. Yet all of them are completely Dan.

It should be noted that our use of "solipsism" connotes an unpleasant place where one is aware only of one's own existence - hence, Solipschism would be the painful but necessary state where the illusion (of being the center of the universe) begins to collapse.
